We all want great things to happen to us, but do we really know how? We may think that we do, but chances are we really don’t. The truth is that it’s all about how we perceive things and the things that happen to us. Having a positive outlook on life is essential.
Take a look at your mental attitude.
Ask yourself some of the following questions.
When something happens to you, do you look at the bright the bright side, or the negative side? Do you look at yourself as the victim every time something bad happens to you? Do you feel that the universe is conspiring against you? It’s easy to take credit for the good things in your life. When something bad happens though, our first instinct is to disconnect. Saying things like “This wasn’t my fault. This wasn’t supposed to happen to me.”
You are not the victim
First let me say this, we are all responsible for everything that happens in our lives, both good and bad. The universe is not conspiring against you. It all has to do with how you view things. If you view yourself as the victim, you will always be the victim. I’m sorry to put it to you like this, but it’s true. It took me years to learn these lessons. Don’t view yourself as the victim. Look at it as the universe sending you a message. The universe needs you to learn a lesson.
The next time something bad happens to you, don’t say to yourself, “Why is this happening to me”.
Say to yourself, “What is this situation trying to teach me?”
If you take yourself out of victim mode and see what the universe is trying to tell you, then you can dramatically improve your mental thinking. Thinking that you are the victim leads you further down the road to negativity. It keeps you from taking responsibility for yourself and your actions. So how do we keep this from happening?
How can we make better choices to improve our lives
Learn to focus on the positives more
This will go along way to improving your growth and your life in general. Another thing that you can do is think about all of your blessings. The next time you don’t get that beautiful leather jacket you wanted, take a moment to be grateful for everything that you do have. So many of us get stuck in what we don’t have, instead of what we do have. Many of us don’t get what we want on a regular basis.
What matters is how we choose to deal with it. If you are always looking on the negative side of life, you are not allowing yourself any chance of growth or improvement. If you make the choice to see the bright side of the coin, then you will open yourself up to the good things that life has to offer. Again, it’s all about perception and what you choose to make of it.
Poke fun at yourself
Learn to laugh at a situations, even the bad ones. It will give you a whole new perspective on things. Don’t take yourself too seriously either. If you do that, you will miss out on what life has to offer.
Don’t be so reactive
Limiting your reactive behavior to situations will also reduce your negative outlook on life, thus giving you more choices. The next time someone does something to anger you, don’t focus on the anger. Look at the good qualities of each person that you know in your life. We all have issues with this, even I do. As long as you work on it daily, this will improve.
One good thought can cancel out a few bad ones every time. Life is short and you only get one shot. It’s what you do with it and your mental outlook that counts.
