Facials, makeup, oils, anti-aging creams… these are all products and methods we use to keep skin looking beautiful. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don’t. The fact is, not every product works for every individual because we all have very different skin. However, there are some methods every woman can follow to keep skin looking youthful: It’s all about living a healthy lifestyle.

Here are a few quick tips to not only prevent signs of aging, but also get a glowing complexion:

Drink plenty of water

You know to drink water for good health, but did you know it also helps keep your skin looking youthful? Hydration is key to preventing wrinkles. Avoid sodas or sugary juices and stick to water. If you need more taste, add lemon or mint. If you usually do not drink much water, try making it part of your every day routine. Drink a glass when you wake up, during lunch, throughout the day at work, and before you go to bed. You should be drinking around 8 glasses a day. Have a water bottle at your desk and keep it filled. This will also give you a good reason to get up and stretch your legs throughout the day.

skinAvoid sugar

Sugar is a pro-inflammatory. Inflammation is bad for your body and your skin. If your skin is inflamed, over time it will start to droop, causing wrinkles. Try to greatly reduce sugar from your diet. Save the sugar for special occasions and only treat yourself every once in awhile. If you are trying to live a healthy lifestyle, sweet treats and sugar drinks should not be a part of your every day diet. It’s best for your health and your skin.

Eat raw fruits and vegetables

Fruits and vegetables are great for your skin. The more color, the better! Paint your plate with a wide variety of fruits and vegetables a day. Ever wonder why cucumbers are placed on the eyes for facials? It’s because they hydrate your skin and reduce inflammation. This powerful vegetable helps your skin from the inside too. Vegetables are full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants to help control free radical damage on healthy skin cells. Shoot for about 5 servings of vegetables and 2 servings of fruit per day. Eat a salad every day and fill it with your favorite veggies. You’ll feel the difference in your energy level and your complexion!

Get enough sleep

Ever hear the phrase “I need my beauty sleep”? There is truth to it. Sleep is important for your whole body’s health, including your skin. Too little sleep can be detrimental to your health and will accelerate the signs of aging. Around 8 hours per night is the perfect amount to keep you looking and feeling your best every day.

The best part? All of these methods are more affordable than buying expensive skincare products on a regular basis. Keeping your skin hydrated and healthy will go a long way to getting and keeping a beautiful, glowing complexion. Take care of yourself and you will feel great from the inside out!
